Nicandra (Apple of Peru)

Apple of Peru is an annual, fast-growing plant for a sunny spot in any rich soil. It makes dense foliage and decorative, large bell-shaped pale blue flowers with a white center throughout summer. A very easy going tropical plant, which will readily selfsow under appropiate conditions, as seeds are absolutely frostresisant.
Sow flat in any soil in late spring or at a minimum of some 15°C in any good soil in a sunny spot. Transplant to the open garden as soon as seedlings are strong enough after the last freezing end of spring. Will flower all summer and autumn long until the first freezing occurs.
