Hyacinthus (Hyacinth)

Real Hyacinth species are very hard to obtain and are very different from ubiquitous cultivars and hybrids. Make usually few flowered racemes with smaller flowers which are strongly fragrant.
Sow flat autumn to spring in any well drained, rocky soil. Keep pots in full sun in a protected place. Transplant small bulbs after foliage has died down in July/August. Most Hyacinths will flower within their third year.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6 unless otherwise specified.
