Ipheion (Soap Flower)

Ipheion is a very small genus of S American subalpine plants with strongly fragrant star like flowers. Best for a sunny or partially shaded, well drained position. Form large clumps and will flower more abundantly each year. Dense leaves appear early in spring.
Sow flat, preferably in spring in any well drained soil, keep pots in a partially shaded place. Transplant small bulbous rhizomes in June during dormancy before new leaves emerge.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6 unless otherwise specified.
