Triggerplants are carnivorous plants which make up a speices-rich genus with most species being native of Australia. Most species are evergreen perennials with small leaves and lax inflorescences with showy, bright colored flowers. They passively catch small insects with glandular hairs. For any rich, very well drained substrate in full sun throughout the year. In winter reduce watering and keep plants at a minimum of some 15°C. Sow fine seeds at a minimum of some 20°C throughout the year on top of any very well drained, rather sandy soil. Do not cover seeds with soil. Keep seedlings in full sun and water carefully from below. In this genus germination occurs very sporadically over several months. A treatment of the seeds with gibberillic acid will significantly enhance the germination process. Alternatively, prior to sowing soak seeds in water with added wood ash for 48 h. 20 seeds per package.
