Madeira Giant Black Parsely and Madeira Giant Carrot both belong to monotypic genera with a single impressive species each and are native of the island of Madeira. They are monocaulous tall perennials with tall and broad inflorescences with several umbels of numerous small white, yellowish-green or rosy-white flowers above ornamental, large, feathery and finely dissected (Monizia edulis) to broad glossy, serrated, aromatic leaves (Melanoselnimum decipiens). Both are excellent container plant for any humus rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot and a winter minimum of some 10°C with reduced watering. Plants will usually die down after flowering, but they are easily propagated by seeds. Sow seeds flat in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Keep seedlings always sunny, especially in winter months. They may reach flowering size within 2 to 4 years, depending on cultivation conditions. 10 seeds per package. |
