Ornamental Cherries belong to a very diverse and large genus distributed throughout the northern and southern hemisphere. They are mostly perennial, evergreen or deciduous, usually woody shrubs or trees. Several smaller species from Asia have very showy flowers and/or decorative fruits in summer and autumn and are of great horticultural value. All are easily grown in any humus-rich, well drained soil in partial shade to full sun. Sow in autumn in any rich, well drained, sandy soil in pots outside. Seeds require a cooling period for several months before they will germinate in late spring. Transplant young plants in autumn or late spring. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 7 seeds per package. To UK customers only: From 1 January 2022 onwards seeds from all Prunus species cannot be shipped to the United Kingdom anymore. To U.S. customers only: All Prunus species are prohibited importation to the U.S. |
