Talipariti and Beach Hibiscus or Portia Trees are both small genera of ornamental large, evergreen shrubs to small trees with large flowers in vivid yellow to orange colors. They are native of subtropical to tropical areas and are easily grown as container plants in any rich, well drained substrate in full sun throughout the year at a minimum of some 20°C in winter with reduced watering. Sow seeds in any rich, well drained substrate at some 20°C to 30°C throughout the year and keep seedlings very sunny, especially in winter months. 7 seeds per package. Talipariti elatum (Blue Mahoe Hibiscus) Exclusive2 (7)m, Blue Mahoe Hibiscus (syn. Hibiscus elatus) is very tall and broad shrub to small tree from Cuba and Jamaica, and naturalized on US. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. It makes large, leathery leaves and showy, rather large flowers which open bright yellow and fade to intense orange. Talipariti elatum is rarely seen in cultivation outside its native range, where it is occassionally planted for its excellent wood which may range in color from brown, green, bluish, purplish to grey.
