Fuchsia is a broad genus from mostly subtropical from tropical forests to cold highlands in South America. Numerous species are easily grown, woody, small shrubs with numerous showy flowers throughout summer. They are excellent pot or container plants for any fertile, humus-rich, well drained substrate in a sunny to partially shaded spot throughout the year. In winter keep plants at a minimum of some 12°C and reduce watering to a minimum. Cut back in spring before new growth. Ideal in a cool, frostfree wintergarden or temperate greenhouse. Sow seeds flat on any humus-rich, slightly sandy, well drained substrate at some 20°C. Do not cover the small seeds with soil. 30 seeds per package. |
