Asian Honeysuckle are most ornamental, winter hardy, tropical looking perennial shrubs with annual fast growing shoots crowned by most beautiful, dense clusters of fragrant white to rose trumpet-like flowers covered with large red to purplish-red bracts (pseudo petals), followed by decorative, glossy purplish-black fruits in late summer to autumn. They originate in mountain woods in E Asia and are easily grown in any humus-rich well drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Sow flat in any rather humus-rich, well drained soil. Keep pots in a sheltered and sunny spot outside in winter. Transplant dormant rootstock in late autumn as soon as the shoots have died down. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 50 seeds per package. |
