Locoweeds are annual, perennial to slighty woody dwarf subshrubs from Eurasia and North America. Especially North American species have showy silvery-grey, hairy feathered leaves and bright pink, lilac, white or yellow flower clusters. They are easily cultivated in any rich, very drained soil in a sunny and preferably protected spot in a rock garden. Goat's Rue and Scurfy Peas have most ornamental, pale blue or bicolored pea-like flowers above feathered leaves on semi-erect to creeping stems. Our perennial species are native of rich soils in sunny spots in prairies and open spots in woods in North America. They are easily grown in any rich, well-drained soil in full sun spot. Prior to sowing soak seeds in luke warm water for some 48h. After that sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil in full sun and some 15°C to 20°C. Germination will occur evenly within 2 to 3 weeks. If seeds are sowed late in the year and at higher temperatures, germination may not occur until following spring. In winter keep pots protected from permanent wetness. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 10 seeds per package. |
