Plocama

Plocama is a small genus with of usually shrubby members. The Canary endemic species Plocama pendula is endemic from the succulent and xerophytic shrub zone on all Canary islands and grows as a medium sized, semi woody shrub with bowing, fresh green stems densely covered with linear, slightly succulent leaves and axillary, small whitish flowers followed by ornamental small, transluscent berries. Easily grown as a pot or container plant in any well drained, rocky soil in full sun throughout the year. Keep plants drier in winter in full sun and at a minimum of some 15°C. If plants are becoming too large, they can be cut back easily in early spring.
Sow seeds flat on any very well drained, rock-sandy soil and place pots in a sunny spot throughout the year. Keep seedlings only slightly moist from beneath and carefully transplant to larger pots after the second pair of leaves.
