Guichenotias are a small genus native of Western Australia with evergreen small shrubs within the mallow family (Malvaceae). They have narrow, needle-like, usually greyish leaves and showy bell-shaped flowers. All are good pot or container plants for any fertile, humus-rich, sandy to rocky soil in a sunny spot throughout the year with a winter minimum of some 15°C and reduced watering. Sow seeds flat on top of any rich, sandy soil at some 20°C, and keep pots in a sunny spot. Slightly cover seeds with soil and keep soil always slightly moist. Germination is irregular in this genus. 10 seeds per package. |
