150 (220)cm, Panther Lily is a tall species from moist, humus rich sites in woods and by streams in USA (S Oregon, W Utah to California) with creeping rhizomes forming rich flowering clumps in time. Makes bright orange to yellowish orange (rarely red) flowers with strongly recurved petals and maroon spots inside above leaves arranged in whorls. For any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Seeds from a certified wild collection in Plumas County, Greenville, California at some 600m. V-VI. 20 seeds per package.
