20 (40)cm, White Wooly Jerusalem Sage is a dwarf woody, perennial subshrub from the Western Mediterranean (France, Spain and Portugal) and very rarely seen in cultivation. It has very ornamental, densely white wooly narrow leaves and short upright racemes with whorls of rather large, lemon-yellow flowers. For its genus, seeds are unusually large in this species and always very scarce. For any rich, very well drained soil in a sheltered and sunny spot in the garden, excellent in the rock garden. In cold regions give plants some winter protection, e.g. a dry mulch layer. VI-VIII. |
