50 (120)cm, a small woody shrub with subspecies brevipilosum native of the xerophytic shrub zone on Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, and La Palma. On El Hierro it is represented by the subspecies hierrense, whereas on Madeira the type supspecies heterophyllum is found. It has ornamental silvery-grey, oval leaves which have a very pleasant, light aromatic scent. Its' orange red funnel shaped flowers turn to bright blood red with age. For any rich, well drained, preferably slightly stony soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. Keep cooler at a minimum of some 15°C in winter with reduced watering. Flowers from late autumn to late spring. X-III. 20 seeds per package.
