Amorphophallus gigas

This species makes an impressively tall, pale green, white and grey mottled dark green pseudo-stem which may reach up to 450cm in height and which is topped by a large leaf umbrella. The spectacular inflorescence is composed of a large dark wine red spathe and a long protruding wine red to rosy-beige or yellowish spadix. For any humus rich, very well drained, always slightly moist soil with a minimum of some 20°C (optimal 25°C) throughout the year. During growth keep plants in a partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot. In comparison to Amorphophallus titanum, this species is easier in cultivation.
