300 (500)cm, Winter Hardy Purple Passion Flower is a herbaceous perennial with fast growing vines with dark green, three-lobed leaves and several showy flowers with white petals and sepals and a central crown of pinkish-purple filaments. The flowers are followed by egg-sized, delicious fruits with a sweet-aromatic white pulp (locally called "Maypops"), which mature to a yellowish color. It is native of south-eastern USA and is easily grown in any rich, very well drained soils in a sunny, protected spots with a climbing aid. Cultivate young plants in pots for two under frostfree conditions in winter with a minimum of some 12°C and a very sunny spot, transplant to the garden by the end of spring in their third year.
